Effective Blogging

I'm currently going through Charles Heflin's 20/20 course on social media. Heflin is widely recognized as the most influential voice in social networking today. He concentrates on the practices that are long lasting and will be effective today, tomorrow, and next year, not just the expedient things that give you better page rank today.

Like Ceballos and Fong in my last post, Heflin is alerting the social networking community that Google is fixing to become the dominant force in social networking and is studying the field carefully. It will be relatively easy for Google to tell when posts that you are linking back to from social media sites are filled with content or just linking farms to tout your own material. If this is all you are doing with social media, then prepare to be slapped very soon!

Heflin says that three elements must be present in every blog post and syndicated article in order to be read and followed consistently. It must be educational, entertaining and enlightening. He feels it is better to concentrate on writing truly amazing content then in posting every day with mediocre fare. Great advice!

20/20 will teach you which social media properties you need to pay attention to most and build up with content, not just links. The 20/20 classroom shows you why, what and how of social networking.

One way to change things up (this is me talking, not necessarily Charles) is to use a content management company to create content for you. When you employ professional writers you are getting the benefit of people who know how to research and write effectively. You're also getting an outside team with email addresses other than your own to backlink the posts that are going on your blogs for you. Soon, that may become a critical distinction in whether or not your backlinks are going to rank.

I'm at the formative stages of building a content management team. Take a look at www.myblogbuilders.com for an idea of what we are doing, and contact me if you are interested in knowing more. We don't have one standard price list at this point, but we are happy to give you a quote for your particular set of content needs.

New No Cost Training Videos Out

I've run into two great video series for Internet Marketers this week that I want to share with you. Both cost absolutely nothing.

For newbies and old-timers, Eric Holmlund's series of 120 tip videos looks very promising. Holmlund is the writer and director of Joel Comm's famous "Next Internet Millionaire" online reality show, and the author of a wide variety of top online products. He says that his brief series of videos will take the process of building a business online from the very beginning steps to very sophisticated secret tweaks that he has used to create his own multi-million dollar Internet business. Check it out at Ericstips. Be prepared to actually do some homework to prepare for each session.

For those who want to get the very latest on doing search engine optimization for better natural search ranking, take a look at SEO Networker, a little training site by Ferny Ceballos and Raymond Fong. These two show you in 8 quick lessons how to use social sites for social buzz and not for spammy marketing. By building credibility you'll build your readership and add indirectly to your bottom line. They warn that Google is watching the development of social sites very carefully and will soon be out with the next slap to penalize sites that have done bookmarking and reciprocal link exchanges without building content and profile first on social sites. Those who want to learn SEO work in depth should consider the mastermind sessions that Ceballos and Fong will be holding after their private membership site closes on Feb. 2. Unlike the limited 8 part series, the 8 week training sessions will cost to get in, but will almost certainly be worth the price of admission for those who want to get down white hat natural SEO techniques cold.

Placement Locator by Armand Morin a Winner

Hi,

I've just been through the training videos for Armand Morin's new Placement Locator software.

Some of you may be aware that in addition to the Adwords pay per click network Google offers another, less costly but at least as effective, method of advertising. They call it their content placement network. I've fiddled with it on my own and, like everything else, it takes some experimentation to get your banner ads running right and placed on the money making sites. Armand's software takes a lot of the guess-work and time-consuming searching out of finding just the right sites to advertise on.

If you haven't tried the content placement network yet, you'll be amazed at the power of CPM, or cost per thousand views, advertising on Google and the other large networks. It is definitely the way to go for those who want to promote consistently and at a low cost point on Google.

Armand has been using this automated tool for a couple of years now, and is one of the reasons for the rapid growth of his business-- it's really his secret weapon. Now you can use it too. Check out the video that explains the system at: Placement Locator.

The Frustration of Putting Up Websites

Does the holiday season get you down? This is the time when one feels the most pressure to make money in order to pay all those holiday bills, and yet the days are the shortest and the time the most limited to actually get it all done.

I have been trying to put up a couple of new websites, something I fully admit I do not do well. I've spent two full days doing all the site editing and whatnot to get up my version of Derrick Van Dyke's "Affiliate Marketing Blueprint" system, watching the video setup instructions repeatedly. As often happens, when I tested my downloaded software all I got was the directory page and not the actual index.html homepage. I know I've run into that before, and it's frustrating because I never seem to remember exactly how to fix it.

I'm anxious to get the package up because it is an awesome, and very, very reasonably priced business in a box for folks. I'm sure I'll get it solved, but I had to put it aside for the moment in order to take care of other pressing matters.

Late last week my good friend, Brad Wozny, put out an email to his list about my e-book, "Understanding Foreclosure." If you're looking for a Clickbank product to promote in the real estate niche, this is one to consider. It's meant for the homeowner who is going into foreclosure. This is an unusual angle, because most of the material in that niche are for investors looking to make a killing in the foreclosure market. Most of the remaining material that is also meant for homeowners tries to also appeal to investors and ends up appealing to no one.

My guide is different because it tries to take the homeowner on a step by step guided tour of the options and which options work in various scenarios. My guide is sensitive to the fact that people who are hurting are not going to want to hear about how much money someone can make off of the misfortune of someone in foreclosure. They just want help and they want the steps to avoiding foreclosure to be clear and concise.

If that's the kind of guide you'd like to promote, then pick it up here:
Understanding Foreclosure.

The Mysteries of Pinging and RSS Feeds

Hi Gang--

The Mystery of Ping

Kenneth Koh from Leads Leap blog just cleared up one of the nagging mysteries I've had lately. A few weeks ago these annoying red highlighted URLs started popping up every time I went to a website. I couldn't figure out what was happening until I read Kenneth's article at:
How to Use Ping.

What he says is that the SEO book plugin for Firefox now gives an indication of which sites are nofollow when you do link backs. There are a mess of them! Of course, you want follow links in order to build back links. Unfortunately for those of us into marketing with our blogs and other web posting services, Wordpress blogs default to nofollow. So... you need to go to your settings file and make sure the follow feature is turned on.

The Mystery of RSS Feeds

I was notified by Getresponse that my signup box at this site has been discontinued because they were getting a message that my link doesn't work. I still have not solved that mystery, but after watching the presentation about RSS feed at the Yaro Starack and Gideon Shalwick Becomeablogger site at least I know how to solve this, and will get it fixed within the next 24 hours. I'm using Feedburner, which is a free tool, and one that gathers all your usage statistics for you no matter what reader sourc your client is using. There is also an email gathering feature in Feedburner and I may start using that instead of trying to link directly to my Getresponse list. That's the part I haven't quite figured out yet...

Anyway, if you want a great set of 10 free videos on getting started in blogging, go to Gideon and Yaro's site. Here's the link: Becomeablogger.com.

Happy blogging!

Here's an under rated traffic tip you can use now

Hi--

Watch this new video to find out the most under
rated traffic tactic ever:

http://www.xfactortraffic.com/v8.o/liznichols

It's like the red-headed stepchild of traffic
getting methods - and even though most people
completely overlook it, Trafficology still ranks
it as the #8 top no-cost traffic getting tactic
of all time.

No other traffic generation technique combines
the ease & effectiveness, at such a low cost,
& yet produces such a high quality of traffic.

Those "in the know" refer to it as "the Holy
Grail of Traffic"

...because once it's set up properly, it creates
a self-perpetuating never ending traffic stream
that goes on and on without you ever having to
lift a finger again.

It even grows exponentially...

In fact, it's so powerful you couldn't stop the
traffic flow even if you wanted to.

This video explains the most highly under rated
tactic:

Liz
